A guided tour of the past of Paris's Chinatown!
Find out what this 13th arrondissement was like before the towers and "Chinois" that made it famous!
If you're a fan of the history of neighbourhoods and ancient architecture, this unique video conference is for you!
Chinatown was not built on a large plot of wasteland, but in an area where houses, buildings and shops already existed.
Would you have guessed that there are still traces of this past, despite the construction of the famous towers in the 1970s, which were largely filled by South-East Asian refugees fleeing their now communist countries?
In the past, this was a working-class neighbourhood, inhabited largely by blue-collar workers. But that's not all! Fortunately, not everything was demolished to build the towers. Fortunately, there are still some remnants: Haussmann-style buildings, art deco buildings, etc.
You can discover..:
- the history of this district in the middle of the countryside from the 17th century to the construction of the towers in the 1970s,
- the differences between a Haussmann-style building and one in the Art Deco style, with many examples on display during the walk,
- a little history that goes hand in hand with the big story.
Departures at 10.00 in the morning and 14.00 in the afternoon.
