Make your own knife in Paris, and take it home with you!
A cutler from Mayenne will help you make a knife of his own creation: L'Anjou. This is a top-of-the-range folding knife created for the Anjou region.
Duration: This knife-making workshop lasts 3 hours.
Content and objective:
While Antoine talks to you about his craft, the materials and tools he uses, you will assemble the various parts of the knife using cutlery techniques.
You will then learn how to shape the handle using cutlery backstands.
The blades are made of XC90CrMo17 stainless steel, while the springs and plates are made of XC20CrMo17.
You will have a choice of several types of wood (mainly from Mayenne): birch, holly, burr oak, juniper (Ardèche), boxwood, plum root, lilac root, plane tree, pear tree, apple tree and other species depending on availability and the degree of drying of the wood.
The handle is then polished and sharpened.
Finally, you'll choose a leather sheath in which to store your knife, full of emotions and memories.
