What is canyoning?
Originally, canyoning is actually an activity derived from speleology. We can go back to 1888 to find its beginnings with the descent of the underground river of Bramabiau, in the heart of the Cevennes Park by E. A. Martel. Since then, the activity has developed with its practitioners of the French Federation of Speleology until the birth of the canyoning commission, in the early 2000s.
By definition, canyoning consists of descending rivers, streams, torrents, or gorges that are more or less narrow and deep. Progression is made by walking, swimming, jumps and slides, abseiling and various rope techniques.
The difficulty of the course varies according to the diversity of the stages to be crossed: waterfalls, basins, biefs, more or less vertical walls, with or without the permanent presence of water, canyoning is really an intense sports activity in nature.
It is certainly because of these characteristics and the development of the personality that they imply that you will choose to practice this activity.

Safety instructions and contra-indications
Canyoning is a sporting activity, carried out in the open air. A good physical condition is therefore required to be able to do it safely.
Also, given the environment in which you will evolve: it is better to be able to swim, to be at ease in water, and for certain courses in particular not to be afraid in front of the void.
Canyoning, more so than visiting the lava tunnels, involves risks for people with injuries (sprains, strains, back problems, etc.). We strongly advise against this activity for pregnant women.
