"I started out as an acrobat at the age of 15, then I was noticed by an artist while I was drawing on the pavement. I became his model and also his mistress. Ten years later I already knew all the painters on the Butte Montmartre. My beauty caught the eye of the great names in painting, and many of them left portraits of me for posterity...".
