WINEGROWING ESTATE

Château des Ravatys covers 29 hectares of vines, spread over two crus: Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly. The only grape variety used is Gamay Noir with white juice, which flourishes on the well-exposed slopes of Mont Brouilly.

The Brouilly appellation can be identified by its granitic sands, which give the wine depth of fruit, charm and suppleness.

HISTORY

It all began in the middle of the 19th century when Auguste SOLET, a polytechnic engineer from Lorraine, bought the vineyard.

After making his fortune building viaducts for the Algiers-Constantine railway line, he decided to design all the plans for the château and farm buildings himself, in order to create a modern, perfectly structured estate. As mayor of the village of Saint Lager, he set up the canton's first mutual aid society.
