Serge Gainsbourg's historic home

A place frozen in time, untouched since 1991. A veritable jewel of France's artistic heritage, the house where Serge Gainsbourg lived for 22 years has remained unchanged since his death. Now a Maison des Illustres and Heritage of Regional Interest, it is open to visitors in a totally immersive and intimate way.

A tour in small groups, room by room:

  • Guests, equipped with headphones, are guided by the voice of Charlotte Gainsbourg, his daughter, who delivers a personal and poetic account accompanied by an original soundtrack. Each room reveals a facet of the man behind the artist.
  • The tour is in small groups to preserve the unique atmosphere of the place. In groups of 2, departing every 6 minutes (approx. 30 minutes)

The museum and its works

Discover 450 works that retrace a life of excess, daring and genius. Opposite the house, the Maison Gainsbourg museum offers a free tour of around an hour, designed as a modern cabinet of curiosities. The tour is self-guided, at your own pace. It allows you to discover the artist through his personal objects, manuscripts, archives, stage costumes and works of art.

The tour :

  • Chronological gallery of emblematic or previously unpublished works (a collection of 25,000 pieces)
  • Video area showing 50 minutes of rare archive footage (interviews, broadcasts, film extracts)
  • Temporary exhibitions on major themes (Jane Birkin, Melody Nelson, etc.)

  • The manuscript of La Marseillaise rewritten
  • The Man with the cabbage head by Claude Lalanne
  • Works by Salvador Dalí

Le Gainsbarre - Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

A warm, hybrid venue inspired by the Gainsbourg atmosphere

A place to live and party, Le Gainsbarre is a restaurant by day and a cosy cocktail bar by night, directly inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's early musical years when he played in Parisian cabarets. The décor, designed as an extension of the house, recreates a chic, vintage and intimate atmosphere.

  • A menu of signature cocktails pays tribute to the world of the artist and the women in his life: the Gibson, the 102, or elegant and original non-alcoholic creations.
