Join your colleagues on a botanical walk around Nantes!
Wherever nature invites itself and flourishes, from the centre of Nantes to the banks of the Erdre and the Vallée du Cens.
Course of the activity :
- Welcome with a herbal drink
- The rules of safe wild gathering
- Observation walk using botanical field magnifiers
- Recommendation of resources to continue exploring (I show some practical books for beginners)
Botanical walks: what are they?
The walks are open to everyone, and you don't need any previous knowledge to take part.
During the walks, you can observe around twenty plants depending on their habitat and the season, learn how to recognise them and discover which plants are edible, which have medicinal properties and which are poisonous.
The activity is great fun, as participants have to answer questions using their senses: What do you see? What do you touch? What do you smell?
Then they discover the botanical keys and recognition signs for leaves, stems, flowers and fruit.
Observing plant details with a magnifying glass and discovering edible plants always leave participants in awe.
Plant immersion guaranteed!
Optional: the pdf booklet of the walk with all the plants observed, their virtues and their recognition criteria.
The route and locations:
We recommend the Vallée de la Chézine - Nantes/St Herblain (adaptable starting point, 1 possible route with PRM access)
