Solidarity treasure hunt Climate challenges in Paris Group activity

Description

A team building activity that will offer your colleagues a game about the climate, while walking around France.

A team building activity directly linked to current events. Here is a fun and strategic team adventure during which your teams will be able to laugh and think.

The best thing about it? 1 point scored = 1 € donated to an environmental protection association. It's up to you!

The context

In order to better understand the current climate-related issues, we have compiled a press review of the environmental and climate news of the last 20 months. Hence the writing of 20 topical questions relating to recent events: only fresh stuff!

Rules of the game

Divided into teams equipped with armbands, a road book and a Garmin outdoor GPS, you will have 1.5 hours to find and solve the maximum number of riddles. Camouflage capsules, fake rocks: the riddles have been hidden in capsules specially designed to blend into your environment. You'll have to be a good sleuth to find them!

The riddles

Riddles related to negative events (oil spills, deforestation) earn you 1 point, provided you answer them correctly. A wrong answer will produce the opposite effect: - 1 point.

Riddles relating to positive events (initiatives, successes) = 2 points (wrong answer = - 2 points).

Requirements: Good organisation within the team, observation and a lot of tactics. Because this game has been designed to make it difficult to do everything in the time available: you will have to make choices!

The Debriefing

At the end of the game, all the teams get together to read out loud all the 20 riddles, which allows everyone to find out where they stand, get informed while having fun and extend this moment over a drink or a snack.

2 possible locations:

Parc de Bercy - Cour Saint-Emilion (Paris 12e)

Covered passages and galleries in the 1st, 2nd and 9th arrondissements

In teams of 5-6 people.

Includes :

- 2 to 5 facilitators including 1 leader

- Equipment (mission sheets, Garmin GPS, geocaching capsules, stopwatches...)

- The gift for the winning team: chocolate gold coins in our safe

- The donation to an association according to the following scale: 1 point = 1 €.

- Your equipment: The Oregon 450, Garmin outdoor GPS touchscreen

Equipped with a robust touch screen, this Garmin GPS has a 3-axis magnetic compass and a high sensitivity satellite receiver. You'll be able to see everywhere, even under the thickest foliage!

The advantage of this system: Unlike a road GPS that will tell you "turn left/turn right", this GPS will show you, via a compass, a direction and a distance to follow as the crow flies. The participants move forward according to the hot/cold principle: they do not know, until the last moment, where their target is precisely.

You'll be able to see everywhere, even under the thickest foliage!

Examples of challenges:

19 November 2021 - Brazil: deforestation in the Amazon has increased by 22% in one year (France Info)

A sad record for the planet. According to an official estimate published on Thursday 18 November, deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon increased by nearly 22% between August 2020 and July 2021 compared to the previous period, setting a record for the last 15 years. This is the third annual increase under Jair Bolsonaro's government.

Question: what are the 2 main causes of the massive deforestation of the Amazon?

November 2020 - France: Ecological transition, one million jobs at stake (We demain)

"The fact that the ecological transition generates a double dividend, firstly economic - an increase in employment - and secondly ecological - a drop in emissions - is now widely accepted", the economist Gaultier says.the fact that the ecological transition generates a double dividend, firstly economic - an increase in employment - and secondly ecological - a reduction in emissions - is now widely accepted", insists economist Gaël Callonnec, who coordinates the modelling of the various macroeconomic scenarios of the ecological transition at the French Agency for Ecological Transition (Ademe).

In which sectors will so-called "greening" jobs particularly flourish in the coming years?
