We offer an original and exclusive activity: a lagoon tour that is informative, refreshing and gentle on the body – ideal for those who don’t practise scuba diving or who don’t like putting their heads under water.

Whether with friends or colleagues, it’s a chance to learn, chat and enjoy some gentle exercise in the heart of Réunion’s marine reserve.

This unique activity takes place at several locations across the island (La Saline, Saint-Leu, Étang-Salé, Saint-Pierre) and is approved by the prefecture and the marine reserve. An ideal format for an original team-building event, a nature-based seminar or a team-building day in Réunion.

The programme for the aquatic walk

Welcome and briefing (10 mins)

Participants are welcomed on Trou d’Eau beach. The time depends on sea conditions and the tides (usually in the morning, around 8.30 am–9.00 am).

Introduction to the lagoon and the marine reserve, followed by a demonstration of how the viewing equipment works.

Outward leg: discovering the species (1 hr 20 mins) / Once equipment has been checked and non-essential items secured, the tour begins. The outward leg is devoted to observing the lagoon’s aquatic species, led by a diving instructor who is also a lecturer in animal biology at the university. A discussion about the observations rounds off this part of the tour.

Return leg: brisk walk (40 mins)
The return leg involves a more dynamic walk through the water, promoting good lymphatic drainage and a natural massage for the legs. The gentle cardiovascular exercise is suitable for all participants. The activity is supervised by a BNSSA-qualified lifeguard.

Debrief (20 mins)
On returning to the beach, participants can shower and use the toilets. The walk concludes with a group discussion of the observations and experiences shared by the group.

Options and customisation

• The activity can be combined with lunch at a beachside restaurant.
• On request, a fun element can be incorporated: a species hunt or a quiz at the end of the walk.
